The Heart Behind the Lens
I created Soul Sessions because I kept meeting people who had never been photographed just for themselves.
Not as a parent, a partner, a professional. Just themselves.
But it started with me.
After a period of deep personal transformation, I had put down my camera entirely. Then a friend facilitated a 29-day self-portrait challenge and I signed up, mostly just to support her.
But somewhere in the act of showing up for myself every day, something shifted.
It forced me to slow down
to romanticize my life, myself, my surroundings. To actually look.
What started as a challenge became a ritual. Meditative. Spiritual.
A slow, sacred act of coming home to myself.
When I began sharing those images, people reached out to say I see myself in you. It opened doors to conversations that wouldn't have happened otherwise. And I started to notice how uncommon it is to have images of ourselves that aren't selfies or family photos, images made truly for ourselves, that reflect who we actually are right now.
Not a performance. Not a role. Just a person, witnessed.
That's what called me to this work.
Not as a service. As a purpose.
